1) Honeycomb. This core consists of hardened cardboard and is commonly used for interior doors. It can also be used for exterior doors if you are looking for a cost-effective solution. These doors can be fire-rated for up to 3 hrs.
2)Polystyrene. This core consists of a slab of foam. It is commonly used in exterior doors and has a much higher insulation value than honeycomb. These doors can be fire-rated up to 3 hrs as well.
3)Polyurethane. Consists of foam, injected into the core. It expands and fills all the space between pressed steel. These doors have the best insulation value, but cannot be fire-rated.
